FiveThings You Need to Know About the Nintendo 3DS

Ihsan Magazine - Over the last several months, buzz around the Nintendo 3DS has been slowly building. In case you haven't already heard, the 3DS is finally launching this upcoming Sunday. The legendary gaming company's follow up to it's popular DS device is meant to break new barriers by providing a first of its kind handheld 3D experience, minus the glasses that make you like like a complete jabroni. Details on the device were vague until the last several weeks as they started to leak out and demo units were spotted here and there.

We managed to get our hands on one this week to experience the device first hand and I got to spend some quality time with it on a couple of flights. What's clear is that the 3DS is a giant step forward from traditional mobile gaming and provides an immersive experience that goes beyond just the games. It actually incorporates your surroundings, your friends, and other 3DS users. Here are 5 things to look forward to:

Madden

That one word goes miles for any bro who's ever picked up a video game controller, and now it's in 3D. I spent a good 2 hours of my flight dominating the rest of the AFC East with Sexy Rexy and the Jets, in 3D. Good call making Madden Football one of the launch titles along with Street Fighter.

Augmented Reality Gaming

Yeah I didn't know exactly what that meant either, but it's really f&@#cking cool and turns your surroundings into a gaming environment. I'm sure you're still confused so here's a relevent video to explain

360-degree Experience

Some of the games, such as Steel Diver and Face Raiders, take the experience 360 degrees so the game is basically coming at you from all angles.

3D Camera

This feature let's you take pictures in 3D. Necessary? No. Cool? Yep. And you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a separate camera.

3DS Sound

Sweet feature that lets you play games to your own jams. All you need is an SD card to transfer music files.
