SMART CARD

Smart card didefinisikan sebagai sebuah kartu dengan IC (Integrated Circuit) yang tertanam didalamnya,dimana IC tersebut digunakan untuk melakukan proses informasi,juga memiliki media penyimpanan dengan kapasitas teretentu. Mungkin sebelumnya Anda telah mengenal magnetic stripe card atau kartu magnetik,yang juga dapat berfungsi sebagai alat pembayaran. Kartu magnetik saat ini masih banyak digunakan kartu ATM di Indonesia,yang tentunya juga dapat berfungsi sebagai alat pembayaran.

Smart card berbeda dengan magnetic stripe card yang merupakan teknologi lama.Magnetic stripe card memiliki ciri yang mudah terlihat,cukup melihat pita magnetik yang melekat pada kartu. Sementara pada smart card,komponen IC pada umumnya terdapat di dalam kartu atau berupa lempengan chip kecil. Tentu saja dengan menggunakan pita magnetik dan IC/chip secara bersamaan pada sebuah kartu,maka kartu tersebut dapat berfungsi sebagai smart card sekaligus magnetic stripe card. Baik magnetic stripe card maupun smart card menyimpan informasi di dalam media penyimpanan masing-masing (pita magnetik pada magnetic stripe card,dan IC atau chip pada smart card). Untuk membaca maupun menulis informasi tersebut,diperlukan sebuah alat yang disebut dengan card reader atau encoder.

Contoh reader dapat Anda temui dengan mudah pada saat Anda pergi ke ATM,yang memiliki sebuah reader untuk membaca informasi pada kartu yang Anda masukkan. Demikian juga pada saat Anda menggesek kartu pada reader untuk melakukan pembayaran. Penggunaan besar-besaran dan booming smart card terjadi pada tahun 1990-an,saat diperkenalkan smart card berbasis SIM (Subscriber Identify Module),yang digunakan dalam ponsel GSM. Penggunaan kartu kredit maupun kartu debit sebagai alat pembayaran oleh Master Card,Visa,maupun Eoropay semakin memperkenalkan smart card pada publik.

Smartcard sudah banyak digunakan dalam berbagai aplikasi yaitu pada akses kontrol, identifikasi, pembayaran/banking, tiket, masuk parkir/jalan tol, penyimpan data personal dan
Penyebab masalah keamanan sering terjadi karena masalah hardware, masalah software, masalah jaringan komunikasi, kesalahan prosedur, serangan untuk mengeksploitasi penyebab masalah keamanan lainnya.

Ada beberapa macam smartcard yang dikelompokkan berdasakan fungsi, mekanisme akses, dan karakteristik fisik, yaitu :

• Memory Card

Smart card yang paling sederhana. Kartu ini hanya mengandung memory circuit yang dapat diakses melalui kontak dengan synchronous protocol.

• Microprocessor Card

Smart card ini mempunyai memory circuit dan microprocessor dalam satu chip. Semua akses ke kartu akan melalui microprocessor. Datanya sendiri baru bisa diakses jika telah melewati semacam security logic.

• Contact Card

Kartu ini merupakan versi awal dari smart card yang beredar di Eropa. Kartu ini adalah smart card yang mempunyai contact chip. Kartu ini harus dimasukkan ke reader untuk melakukan transaksi atau menyampaikan informasi dari kartu ke reader

• Contactless Card

Kartu ini adalah jenis smart card yang menggunakan frekuensi radio (RF) untuk bertukar informasi. Jadi kartu ini tidak perlu kontak fisik ke reader/terminal untuk bertukar informasi. Kartu ini mengandung microcircuit yang tertutup di dalam kartu, sehingga kartu ini hanya perlu didekatkan dengan reader tanpa kontak langsung untuk bertukar informasi.

• Hybrid Card

Smart card yang menggunakan dua teknologi yang ada di contact card dan contactless card. Sehingga terdapat alat contact dan antena dalam satu kartu. Kartunya sendiri ada yang menggunakan satu microprocesor dan ada juga yang menggunakan dua microprocessor. Kartu jenis ini dibuat untuk membuat pengguna bisa memakai kartunya di banyak aplikasi.

• Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Card

Smart card kecil dan dapat diprogram berisi kunci identitas subscriber ke layanan selular. Kunci ini digunakan untuk identitas ke digital mobile service dan jenis layanan yang dipakai. SIM card ini bisa dipasang permanent ke teleponnya atau yang removable. SIM ini berguna untuk kunci keamanan yang dipakai oleh jaringan GSM.

• Removable User Identity Modul (R-UIM) Card

Smart card yang fungsinya sama dengan SIM card tetapi untuk telepon dengan teknologi CDMA. Kartu ini memungkinkan komunikasi antar kedua jaringan.

• Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) Card

Pengembangan dari SIM card yang akan digunakan di teknologi jaringan 3G. kartu ini akan dimasukan di peralatan 3G dan digunakan untuk otentifikasi jaringan dan fungsi lainnya

Ketika berurusan dengan keamanan data, dalam hal ini informasi yang terkandung di smart card, harus ada teknik pembuktian bahwa identitas orang yang memakai smart card itu valid. Sistem pengamanan yang digunakan di smart card adalah sistem kunci simetris dan sistem kunci publik. Metode/algoritma yang banyak digunakan di sistem kunci simetri adalah Data Encryption Standard (DES). Sedangkan algoritma yang digunakan di sistem kunci publik adalah RSA.

Algoritma simetri menggunakan kunci yang sama untuk enkripsi dan dekripsi. DES adalah algoritma kriptografi yang disebut sebagai algoritma modern pertama yang dipakai untuk keperluan komersial dengan detail implementasi yang lengkap dan terbuka. Sistem kunci asimetris menggunakan kunci yang berbeda untuk enkripsi dan dekripsi.kunci yang boleh diketahui adalah kunci publik. Sedangkan kunci yang harus tetap dijaga kerahasiaannya adalah kunci privat.

Today's car is Mazda 3. Here is what Money Magazine said about it:

Any shortlist of compact cars is sure to include the Toyota Corolla and the all-new 2006 Honda Civic, but the Mazda 3 is simply a cut above. It's practical and easy on gas, but also stylish and fun to drive.

Sedan shoppers can choose the 3i model's 150-hp, 2.0-liter 4 or the 3s model's 2.3-liter 4 with 160 hp. The handsome five-door hatch gets the 2.3-liter only; that engine is paired with a new five-speed automatic and anti-lock brakes, both of which are standard.

Options include a navigation system and satellite radio. Go easy on extras and a well-equipped 3 can be had for $16,000 to $17,000.

BMW M3 Convertible Car

BMW M3 We were counting on it -- all the way to 420 hp

It's a blend of the portly convertible we drove last year, and the edgy, electric V-8-powered GT BMW dropped on us last fall in the Spanish countryside. BMW's confirmed an M3 Convertible will join its lineup in Europe in the near future, and while preparations to bring the car to the U.S. aren't complete, technical details of the new convertible have made their way on the Interwebs.

The M3 Convertible starts with the M-essentials, shared with the coupe and sedan sportscars already available from BMW. The powertrain for the new vehicle will be based around BMW's 4.0-liter, which develops 420 hp in European spec, along with 295 pound-feet of torque. It's a light-alloy block manufactured alongside BMW's Formula One engines and weighs 445 pounds, 33 pounds less than the six-cylinder engine in the previous-generation M3. European-spec engines also feature regenerative braking.

Outfitted with a six-speed manual gearbox, the M3 Convertible should dash to 60 mph in less than 5.3 seconds; the stock M3 coupe delivers the same scoot in less than 4.8 seconds. Both coupe and convertible (and coordinating sedan) are limited to 155 mph.

Like the 3-Series convertibles, the M3 Convertible offers up a retractable hardtop with a steel frame and a three-piece roof system. The lid flips and stores itself in the trunk in 22 seconds, and is paired with a wind deflector and a specially programmed automatic climate control for open-air driving.

With the extra heft of body stiffening measures and the top mechanism, the M3 Convertible's put on a few hundred pounds more than the coupe. So the Convertible version of the M3 gets a retuned suspension, along with body reinforcements and a high-performance braking system.

Like the coupe, the sedan features 18-inch Dark Graphite double-spoke alloy wheels as standard, with a forged-and-polished 19-inch wheel available as an option. Another BMW M trait, the side gill in the front wing, has been elongated for the saloon, mirroring the design from the M5. And at the rear twin double exhaust pipes protrude from beneath the valance.

Pagani Zonda - The New Italian Super Car

This monster if a car is called Pagani. It was originally developed by the same people that were working for Lamborghini, but they developed their own independent project and celled it Pagandi. This baby uses a 7.2 liter AMG engine from Mercedes, and it goes from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. As you can see this car not only looks nice, but it preform nice too!

I labeled the Pagani Zonda as the "New Italian Super Car" because it combines some elements that the "old" Italian Super Cars are missing, and that is unique design. Some people might say that the Pagani looks strange, and it does, but that is the beauty of it! Truth is people get tired of the Lamborghini, and Ferrari design, they want something new, and Pagani brings that in a nice 7.2 liter, AMG, package.
