While Nismo have appeared to be taking a back seat when all the major aftermarket tuning workshops have been working overtime to deliver performance boosting products for the new R35 GT-R, the release of a new 'Club Sports Package' by Nissan's in-house tuner proves they haven't been as slack as we first thought.
The package which includes race-spec suspension (Bilstein Damp Tronic adjustable shock absorbers and stiffer spring rates), new tyre and wheel combo, lightweight exhaust system, and Nismo and Recaro co-branded bucket seats appears to target the GT-R's achilles heel - its weight - while also further improving the vehicle's already stunning handling dynamics.
Here's a breakdown of the weight-saving benefits of this Nismo package:
- Lightweight Ray's Engineering 20-inch forged aluminium wheels - 6kg (total)
- Leather wrapped carbon-fibre bucket seats - approx. 6kg (each)
- Titanium exhaust system - 5kg
It's all good. Except the mind-numbing price. ¥5,460,000 or the Aussie equivalent of around $55,000. No, that isn't a typo. Should you order the entire package, that is the amount of money it will set you back.
We'll take the 'standard' GT-R, thanks!
